i was looking at us coins last week and i found a lot of info on them. just type in us coins . it will give you several sites to check out.
The coins are not made of silver. They are made of the same medal as the coins in circulation. They are struck more times than circulated coins.
The Presidential spouse coins are made of gold but the presidential dollars are not.
Also note “Distinguishing this collection are the dime, half-dollar and five commemorative state quarters, all of which are produced in lustrous 90% silver.” Presidential dollars are not mentioned in the silver category.
No, the Presidential dollars are made of the same material as the circulation strikes. The planchets are prepared differently like other proof coins and are struck more than once. Congress would need to pass a new law for the Dollars to be made of silver and so far have not and it looks like they won’t. I usually buy my sets from a dealer and not the mint, that way I get to look at them first. This time I actually saved a $1 for I got it for less money than if I got it from the mint, when you add in the postage charge. What ever you do don’t give up on the sets, the first ones are a new thing and once we get to the presidents who are not well known, people will not buy as many, those sets in the future will go up a lot.
Tell me what you're thinking...
